Meet “Amanda,” a working Sears Tower Citation 2 typewriter from 1966 that a Missouri mom used to type up holiday newsletters and notes to her kids’ teachers.
Made in the U.S.A. by Smith-Corona for Sears, this fun baby blue model was designed to mimic the mod decor du jour of the era. This vintage typewriter’s carriage moves smoothly, and the bell dings clearly at the end of each line and all of its keys strike and fall back well. Its type is a comfortable TK characters per inch (XXXX). Please see photos for a type sample.
This vintage manual Citation 2 comes with a nice, dark black-and-red ribbon installed, so you’ll be ready to type the moment you unwrap it. It also features touch control right on the “dashboard” above the keyboard, allowing you to adjust the force needed to strike each letter to your personal preference.
“Amanda” will arrive in its stylish sturdy, suitcase-style case, which has a faux-houndstooth vibe. We will also include the original user’s manual.
This Sears-branded typewriter is in good cosmetic condition considering its age. PLEASE NOTE the levers that act as an optional fast-forward mechanism have lost their plastic-tipped toppers.
Please be sure to specify "Sears Citation 2 Amanda” when contacting DTW to purchase this typewriter.
