Sears Tower Citation (1962)

$250 (plus shipping if more than 50 miles from Detroit)

Meet “Mary-Kathleen,” a working Sears Tower Citation typewriter from 1962 that a parochial schoolgirl used to write high-school term papers.

Made in the U.S.A. by Smith-Corona for Sears, this fun beige-tan model was designed to mimic the mod decor du jour of the era. This vintage typewriter’s carriage moves smoothly, and the bell dings clearly at the end of each line and all of its keys strike and fall back well. Its type is a comfortable 10 characters per inch (Pica). Please see photos for a type sample.

This vintage manual Citation comes with a fresh black ribbon installed, so you’ll be ready to type the moment you unwrap it. It also features touch control right on the “dashboard” above the keyboard, allowing you to adjust the force needed to strike each letter to your personal preference.

“Mary-Kathleen” will arrive in its stylish sturdy, suitcase-style case, which has a faux-tweed vibe.

This Sears-branded typewriter is in good cosmetic condition considering its age, with only a small blemish in the paint near the carriage return arm. Please see photos to inspect.

Please be sure to specify "Sears Citation Mary-Kathleen” when contacting DTW to purchase this typewriter.
