Olympia SF (1962)

$350 (plus shipping if more than 50 miles from Detroit)

Meet “Aaron,” a working Olympia SF portable typewriter from 1962 that was originally owned by an Ypsilanti, Michigan doctor.

This ultra-portable typewriter is mid-century gorgeous in white and grey. Made in Germany, this petite manual machine’s carriage glides and all of the keys strike and fall back smoothly. The little bell rings clearly to signal the end of each line.

Olympias are known as precision-built machines meant to be workhorses for decades and this specific manual typewriter continues to offer a wonderful typing experience. This Olympia arrives with a fresh black ribbon already installed so you’ll be ready to write your own adventures straight out of the box. The typeface is 10 characters per inch, a size known as Pica. Please see photos for a type sample.

The typewriter itself measures about 12 inches X 12 inches X 4 inches.

Cosmetically, this vintage typewriter is also in good condition, with only a couple of minor scuffs. “Aaron” arrives in its original black zipcase, which features an intact zipper although it does have a tear in the bottom seam, consistent with wear protecting this cool little machine for almost 60 years.

Please be sure to specify "Olympia SF Aaron” when contacting DTW to purchase this typewriter.
